It's like no one ever tells you what to expect down below after baby comes, right?

Pregnancy and childbirth can really change the lady parts and tips for healing aren't always shared as widely as other parenting tips.

Here's what we've learned to get cooling comfort and speed the healing process:

  • Pack a perineal spray in your hospital bag for your first postpartum bathroom trips or when you need a quick spray of relief. All Things Jill has a great all-natural perineal spray that helps ease the discomfort of postpartum soreness and swelling, episiotomies and hemorrhoids.

  • Make sure you have a good salve or balm to help soothe both prenatal and postpartum mama parts. We love Anointment's soothing Push Bottom Balm - made with organic herbs and oils the way to soothe, cool and provide relief downtown.

  • Consider stocking up on soothing bath herbs  - they can make a HUGE difference! You can steep them in warm water for a calming sitz bath or use a steeped infusion to make postpartum "padsicles" (we kid you not) - you pour the cooled "tea" onto a postpartum pad and freeze it. It's makes such a lovely little perineal ice pack! Check out Anointment's postpartum bath herbs - they're our fav!

PS If you know someone having a baby, we highly recommend these products for a baby shower gift. Anointment makes a lovely Postpartum Recover Kit - it's a great way to encourage the new mom to look after herself too!
